The end of the staircase is in sight - you just need to pass the darkened glass wall that currently blocks your way. Some letter plaques lay flat whilst others are upright - could that be a clue? As the title suggests, you need to finish the job. Once you've done that, read the letters in a certain way, keeping their positions on the stairs in mind. No anagramming is needed here.
